Book Review - "A Discovery of Witches"

I've loved reading since I was a little girl and to this day it is the only way I can get myself to fall asleep!!  I hope that some of you are bookworms like me!!  I was tossing around the idea of starting a sort of book club to share great books... What do you think??

Being a huge fan of any supernatural lit, this book's title immediately caught my eye.  The description on the back of the book sold me...

"Deep in the heart of Oxford's Bodleian Library, Diana Bishop - a young scholar and the descendant of witches - unearths an enchanted alchemical manuscript.  Wanting nothing to do with sorcery, she banishes the book to the stacks.  But her discovery has set a fantastical underworld stirring, and soon a horde of daemons, witches, and other creatures descends upon the library.  Among them is the enigmatic Matthew Clairmont, a vampire with a keen interest in the book.  Equal parts history and magic, romance and suspense, "A Discovery of Witches" is a mesmerizing and addictive tale of passion and obsession that reveals the closely guarded secrets of an enchanted world."
-  "A Discovery of Witches" by Deborah Harkness

My Grade:  B

When I started reading A Discovery of Witches it reminded me of a more adult version of Harry Potter combined with Twilight... A magical world filled with suspense, mystery, romance, and danger.  It was intriguing right from the start.

About halfway through the book, things got a little dull and Twilight-y for me... I don't want to ruin any parts of the book so I won't go into detail, but it just felt like the book got a little long at that point.

Toward the end of the book, the pace picked up and everything got interesting again.  By the end of the book I was dying to know what happened.  I have a stack of books to read, but it's driving me crazy that I don't have the second and third books of this trilogy!!

If you'd be interested in this book, email me your address to tortsandatiara@gmail.com and I will send my copy your way!!  :)  My bookshelves are full... And sharing a book is much better than letting it sit on the shelf, right?!
