Lips Red As Blood, Hair Black As Night...

If you're like me, you've been drooling over K-Stew and Charlize in the Snow White and the Huntsman trailer for months now.  I honestly cannot wait to see this movie.  It looks dark and edgy... A fresh take on the classic fairytale.

I am a complete sucker for marketing... I am like a 7 year old child.  Example: I simply could not resist buying several nail polishes from CND's The Hunger Games "Capitol Colours" collection.  So... When I heard that Benefit Cosmetics was putting out a Snow White and the Huntsman beauty kit, I was thrilled and I couldn't wait to see what it included!!

My first impression??  Not impressed.  At all.  Sorry, Benefit.

The beauty kit comes in a special-edition Snow White-inspired makeup case.  The case is nice, and thank God... Because it is the only new or unique item in the beauty kit.

What the "Rare Beauty" kit includes:
  • POREfessional Pore-Minimizing Balm
  • BADgal Mascara
  • benetint Rose-Tinted Balm and Cheek Stain
  • High Beam Luminescent Complexion Enhancer
  • Instructions on how to apply these products (Gee, thanks, Benefit... How generous of you.)
First of all, I am not a fan of the POREfessional balm or the BADgal mascara.  In my experience, they are just semi-decent products.  (For a primer review, including the POREfessional balm, click HERE.)

Second, it's just my opinion that if a cosmetics company chooses to release a product for a movie, they should include a new or limited-edition product in the mix.  Why not create a violet-black smokey eye palette?  Maybe a limited-edition blood-red lip gloss?  There are so many things Benefit could have done for this movie!!  Why did they choose to make the stupid cosmetics case the only unique item?!

Basically, I think Benefit threw together something for this movie in about twenty minutes.  I don't think they put any creative effort into this item, which was clearly created just to gather sales from being attached to the movie's title.

What do you guys think??  Would you buy this for $45??

 Xoxo B.

P.S.  Yay for packaging the beauty kit in a Snow White and the Huntsman box, Benefit.  Kudos for deceptive marketing.

  1. Actually, I might. ;-) I've recently cleaned out my makeup drawer and it's depressingly bare. After getting rid of everything I shouldn't be using, I'm sort of starting from scratch. I sort of like their primer, and I wanted to try both the Benetint and Highbeam anyway. So for me, it's pretty decent value for money. Mostly because it's been long enough since I've purchased anything, I don't have any favorites in other lines, either. Plus, I need a new makeup bag. ;-)
