This past weekend started with a lovely, mandatory diagnostic bar exam... What is that, you might ask?? Basically, we went into the exam completely blind... We didn't study, we didn't prepare. The diagnostic teaches us exactly what we don't know and how much we've forgotten in the past three years!! It was a little scary, and it was definitely not how I prefer to spend 1pm - 4pm on a Friday.
I had a random list of to-do's for this weekend. Since traveling over break, then being sick, I still needed to catch up on things like laundry and going through mail and paying bills. Only in law school have I realized that time is such a luxury... I get so excited when I have time to do my dishes and straighten up my desk and maybe even indulge in a long bath!!
Friday evening I was kind of like a machine... I honestly don't know how I got so many things done...
I needed to stop at Target for some incredibly boring things like new kitchen rugs (thanks, Scarlett), some highlighters, and fabric softener. I was thrilled that Target has all their Valentine's Day decorations, treats, and cards out already... I got a head start on my Valentine's Day shopping!! Somehow, I always think I need a few new decorations for each holiday... But the thought of going from a townhouse to an apartment in a few months gave me anxiety and I managed to get out with no decorations!!!
My next stop was Best Buy... I came in with a baggie of cords and camera cards that Scarlett had demolished or that simply weren't working properly. I love the Best Buy geeks... They are so helpful and they always locate exactly what I'm looking for. Twenty minutes later, I walked out with everything I need to upload photos and videos, charge my video camera, and upload videos from my SDHC card. I was the happiest little nerd you've ever seen.
Some of Scarlett's handiwork.
After I got home and unpacked all my goodies, I even talked myself into a quick session on the elliptical machine. (I will admit, this probably wouldn't have happened without the new magazines I purchased at Target.)
I managed to have a quick dinner while writing and editing a reflection paper for one of my professors. (Whoever decided that midnight on Friday was a good due date for a paper is just mean.) I showered, got ready, and was out the door with AW and on the way to the gay club by 11:00 pm. If you ever want a night out with the girls, completely creeper-less, where you can dance to Britney and Gaga with abandon, I highly suggest your local gay club. It is fabulous. And gay men are great dancers, so if you get lazy you can just stand there and enjoy the show.
The doggies got groomed on Saturday, I went to the bank, I even made it to the gym (yay!!), and I treated myself to Subway on the way back home. Have you tried their chipotle chicken and cheese on flatbread?! It is pure deliciousness in your mouth. I highly recommend.
I was so tired when I got back home that afternoon!! I swear, I think my hibernation disorder is coming back because of our recent snowy weather... I feel exhausted all the time and I have the hardest time waking up in the mornings!!
On Sunday I worked on my blog and went grocery shopping at Whole Foods. I decided it was the perfect night to indulge and get one of their huge pizzas for dinner... Cold and snowy outside and enjoying a warm, crisp pizza inside by the fire!! :)
I've heard about mochi numerous times, but never really had the urge to try it until I saw it at Whole Foods Sunday night. Mochi is a little ball of ice cream (it comes in various flavors) and is wrapped in soft, sweet rice flour dough. I tried the vanilla mochi by Bubbies and it was absolutely delicious!! Take it out of the freezer and wait a minute or two so that the dough softens slightly and the ice cream isn't too cold. You bite through the thin, soft layer of dough and then into slightly melty, creamy ice cream... The texture is something different than I've ever tried before.
When the weather's in the single digits, anything that doesn't involve my bed, hot cocoa, and some PJ's usually sounds less than thrilling to me. I could literally hibernate all day in the winter!! BUT... It ended up being a cozy, productive Winter weekend... Just what I needed.
Are any of you feeling super tired lately?! What things do you like to do when it's cold and snowy outside??
