A Great Start to Labor Day Weekend...

I could not wait to get out of my classes on Friday!!  I immediately went home, touched up my hair and makeup, grabbed Lola, and was out the door!!  I hadn't seen my mom, my aunt and uncle, and my cousins since May (which is rare for me) so I was absolutely aching to get home and spend some time with them!!

My mom had put together a delicious dinner: fresh mixed salad, warm French bread, and the most mouthwatering pot roast I have ever tasted!! (I swear, going 3 months without a warm, stick-to-your-bones Iowa meal made it taste just that much better!!) Friday was the first crisp, Fall-ish day we've had... And we all agreed that the warm pot roast went perfectly with the cool weather, breezing in through the windows :)

After dinner we enjoyed a yummy "Strawberry Wedding Cake" I brought from Wheatfield's for Mom's birthday.  If you live in Omaha and you've never tried it, you are really missing out.  Strawberry Wedding Cake is Wheatfield's specialty, and it is a light, fresh cake (it reminds you of a mix between angel food and pound cake) with a layer of whipped, mousse-like frosting and fresh strawberries in the middle.

*Sorry these are so blurry... BB camera!!

After dessert Mom opened her gifts... And we relaxed and listened to my cousins play guitar.  They are both just learning... But they are doing amazingly well!! I can't even describe how great it was to just relax, listen to C & C play guitar, and enjoy being in the presence of my family.  I was so exhausted from a week of classes and a three-hour drive, but I couldn't ask for anything more than spending an evening with my family.  :)
